Tillandsia intermedia, an epiphytic air plant native to Mexico was first described by Carl Christian Mez in 1903:
- Foliage: A medium-sized caulescent plant with 5-8 thick leaves that form a narrowly ovoid or ellipsoid pseudobulb
- Inflorescence: Simple or composed inflorescence of pointed spikes carrying up to 10 flowers. Primary bracts are scaly and pinkish while floral bracts are green or pink. The flowers are tubular and purple or mauve
| Size | Inches |
| Medium | 5"-6" |
Key features:
- Reported as found in Guerrero, Sinaloa, and Jalisco, Mexico
- Plants may form long chains if repeatedly proliferating from the inflorescence as a new rosette
- Size: Mature specimens typically reach 25cm (~10")
Care tip: Prefers bright, indirect light with some direct morning sun. Mist or soak 2-3 times per week (more in hot/dry conditions). Ensure leaves dry within a few hours; provide excellent air circulation and warm to intermediate temperatures.
Ideal for: New Hobbyists and Non-soil Gardeners
