Tillandsia jonesii

First published in 2000, Tillandsia jonesii is a saxicolous, caulescent, lithophytic air plant that grows primarily in the subtropical biome of Brazil:

• Foliage: Polystichous, silver-green to ruby-red, recurved, clearly twisted, triangular to narrow, and grooved, 2"-3" long leaves
• Inflorescence: Simple, bright red or pink bract, and 4-6 flowers that are clear blue to dark blue 

Key features:

• In their native habitat, they grow on rock faces in the sun, forming tufts in the rocks
• Species name is dedicated to Dr. Jones Caldas de Silva
• Size: Mature specimens typically reach 15-20cm (6"-8") long forming groups in the form of dense tufts

Care tip: Prefers bright, indirect light. Mist or dunk 2-3 times per week (more in hot/dry conditions). Ensure leaves dry within a few hours; provide excellent air circulation and warm to intermediate temperatures.
