Tillandsia ionantha v. vanhyningii is an exquisite, sought after, succulent, caulescent (stem-growing) form of Tillandsia ionantha.
Unlike the typical ionantha, which grows as a single rosette, vanhyningii grows in a vertical, stacking formation, producing new rosettes directly above the older ones. This creates a striking, tiered look that makes it seem sculptural.
The leaves are silvery-green due to tiny trichomes (those fuzzy structures that help it absorb moisture and nutrients from the air), and during bloom, the top rosettes blush a brilliant red or pink. From the center emerge vibrant violet flowers, adding an extra pop of color.
