Your mini Neoregelia mounts are lovely. This is the one for people who want more.
A full-size Neoregelia mounted on grapewood is a different proposition entirely. The rosette is bigger, the color display is stronger, the central tank holds more water, and the whole piece reads as a proper specimen rather than an accent. Mounted on California grapewood—harvested, cut, tumbled, and sandblasted to reveal the grain—it becomes a substantial, sculptural object that anchors a shelf, a wall, or a plant stand.
Why full-size matters. Mini Neoregelias are charming, but they're small. A full-size Neoregelia gives you the color intensity and presence that the genus is famous for—the wide, arching leaves, the saturated blushing center, the tight, water-holding tank. Mounted, it sits at eye level instead of being lost among the small stuff.
Why grapewood. These are real California grapevine pieces. They twist, they knot, they fork. Where cedar gives you a clean rectangle, grapewood gives you character—and no two pieces are alike, so the length, shape, and grain of yours will be its own.
Why soil and moss. Neoregelias are epiphytic, and mounting is how they grow in the wild. But the roots still need something to grip and a moisture reservoir to draw from. The soil-and-moss base at the point of attachment provides both, and keeps the plant established and stable on the wood.
Two displays:
• Hanging (18") — A long, vertical piece, strung and ready to suspend. Shows the rosette at eye level and lets the leaves arch freely.
• Sitting (10") — A shorter piece with a stable base, resting on a shelf, mantle, desk, or plant stand. More compact, easier to place.
Two ways to choose your plant:
• Grower's Choice — $38.95. Our grower selects the Neoregelia and pairs it with the wood. You'll receive a beautiful, ready-to-display mount with both elements chosen for balance and color. The straightforward option, and the better value.
• Selected Species — $42.95. You choose the exact Neoregelia. We'll show you what's available, you pick the species or cultivar you want, and we mount it to the wood. The option for collectors after a specific color, form, or named cultivar.
Care Instructions:
Bright, filtered light. Full-size Neoregelias color up best with good light—a bright windowsill indoors, or dappled shade outdoors. Avoid harsh, direct midday sun, which can scorch the leaves.
Watering the plant: Keep the central "cup" filled with fresh water. Refresh it weekly to prevent stagnation and mosquito breeding.
Watering the mount: The soil-and-moss base should stay moist but never soggy. This is the main difference from a potted Neoregelia—there's no drainage hole, so you're managing moisture by hand. Water the base lightly and let it dry somewhat between waterings. If the moss stays wet for days, you're overdoing it.
