Neoregelia ‘Savoy Truffle’

Add a rich, chocolate-toned treasure to your collection with the Neoregelia 'Savoy Truffle'. This small-growing hybrid was created by renowned breeder Lisa Vinzant and registered in 2015 (Reg. Doc. 12/2015). It is a cultivar of Neoregelia 'Joao Marcio' (seed parent) crossed with Neoregelia 'Blueberry Tiger' F2 (pollen parent).

'Savoy Truffle' forms a mature, open, upright rosette to approximately 25 cm (10 inches) in diameter, though it is often described as a small grower that stays even more compact in cultivation, with specimens around 14 cm. The plant has a distinctive squat, bottle-like shape, making it a charming and unique addition to any collection.

The foliage is the true showstopper. Each 1.25-inch-wide leaf emerges bronze-green, but is heavily marked with dark maroon to chocolate-colored cross-banding. The banding is so dense that it nearly obscures the green base, creating a rich, textured, almost edible appearance. The leaves are punctated (dotted) with reddish-brown and chocolate tones, adding further depth and complexity. In strong light, the rounded leaf tips take on a sepia hue.

This is a compact, colorful, and easy-care bromeliad that thrives with minimal attention. Whether grown in a terrarium, on a windowsill, or as part of a mixed tropical display, 'Savoy Truffle' is a rewarding and distinctive plant that stands out for its bold, chocolate-toned foliage.
