Philodendron cordatum ‘Brasil’

The Philodendron cordatum 'Brasil'. This gorgeous vining plant, native to the rainforests of Central America and the Caribbean, is a beloved selection of the classic Heartleaf Philodendron (Philodendron hederaceum). It is prized for its glossy, heart-shaped leaves that feature a beautiful, random mix of rich green and bold yellow-chartreuse variegation. Often the center of the leaf is a bright lime or gold, surrounded by a dark green border. The stems can also develop a lovely pinkish hue, adding another layer of interest.

This versatile plant can be trained to climb a moss pole for larger, more mature foliage or allowed to cascade gracefully from a hanging basket, making it a perfect choice for shelves, desks, or as a living wall accent. It is a fast-growing plant that can add several meters in a year and is one of the most rewarding, low-maintenance houseplants available.

Care Instructions: Provide bright, indirect light for the best growth and to maintain vibrant variegation. An east- or north-facing window is ideal. It can tolerate low light, but growth may become spindly and variegation less pronounced. Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feels dry to the touch. Water thoroughly, allowing excess water to drain away. Keep the soil slightly moist but never soggy, as this plant is susceptible to root rot. Reduce watering in the winter months when growth slows.
