Tillandsia ‘The Twisted Predator’. This rare hybrid brings together two of the most distinctive and beloved Tillandsias: the tall, upright, “predatory” form of Tillandsia ionantha ‘Predator’ and the iconic, curling foliage of Tillandsia streptophylla.
From its ‘Predator’ parent, it inherits a tall, upright growth habit with leaves that reach skyward, creating a commanding presence. Its leaves are densely covered in trichomes, giving them a frosted, sugary appearance. The plant features a remarkable color gradient, shifting from lime green to soft pink as it matures. Like its streptophylla parent, it may develop beautifully twisted and curled leaves, especially when slightly underwatered.
When it blooms, ‘The Twisted Predator’ puts on a spectacular show. The foliage blushes a vibrant red, and the plant produces typical ionantha-style purple tubular flowers. The combination of its upright, predatory form and the curling influence of streptophylla makes this a truly unique and captivating hybrid.
