Tillandsia balbisiana by Tillandsia streptophylla is an uncommon, low-maintenance air plant:

• Foliage: Thick, bulbous, pear-shaped base of T. balbisiana with the dramatic, twisting curls of T. streptophylla. 
  
• Inflorescence: Long-lasting, multi-branched red or burgundy inflorescence. 
  

Key features:

• Known for its thick, silver-green bulbous base and long, curled, succulent leaves
  
• When dry, the leaves curl tighter, providing a dramatic, sculptural display
• Ideally, this plant should be mounted sideways or upside-down
• Size: Mature specimens typically reach a maximum size of 25cm+ (10"+) tall and wide
  

Care tip: Prefers bright, filtered, or indirect light with some direct morning sun. Mist or soak 1-2 times per week (more in hot/dry conditions). Ensure leaves dry within a few hours; provide excellent air circulation and warm to intermediate temperatures. To prevent rot, turn the plant upside down to dry or drain out excess water.
