Similar to Tillandisa aeranthos, Tillandsia bella has wider, thicker leaves that are brighter green and rigid, channeled, and taper to a point.
One of its most distinctive features is its caulescent (stem-growing) growth habit. As it matures, it develops a more pronounced stem, giving it a unique, architectural form that sets it apart from many other Tillandsia.
When it blooms, typically in autumn (March in the Southern Hemisphere), Tillandsia bella puts on a beautiful show. It produces a stunning, dark pink-bracted inflorescence on a slightly curved peduncle. This globular bloom spike bears large, spirally-arranged mauve flowers, creating a breathtaking display. The plant is rare in cultivation.
