Add elegance to your air plant collection with Tillandsia flavoviolacea. This captivating species was formally described in 2020 by botanist Gouda, with its native range confirmed to be in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. For years, this plant was a mystery in cultivation - often speculated to be a hybrid of Tillandsia schiedeana due to its distinctive flowers - but it has now been officially recognized as a species in its own right.

The plant's form is slender and upright, with relatively smooth green foliage compared to many other Tillandsia. What truly sets this species apart is its stunning floral display. The plant produces bi-colored flowers that are a pale yellow (or white) at the top and transition to a rich violet or purple at the base. Its name, flavoviolacea, is dervied from the Latin 'flavo' (yellow) and 'violacea' (violet), a perfect description of its unique bloom. This semi-rare species is perfect for those seeking something out of the ordinary.
