Tillandsia 'Kimberly' (T. usneoides x T. recurvata)

Add a unique specimen to your air plant collection with Tillandsia 'Kimberly'. This exquisite hybrid is the result of a cross between two prolific species from the subgenus Diaphoranthema: Tillandsia usneoides (Spanish Moss) and Tillandsia recurvata (Ball Moss). To our knowledge, it is the only hybrid between two species of this miniature subgenus. Created by Paul T. Isley, the plant is named after Kimberly Isley, daughter of Paul.

Tillandisa 'Kimberly' offers a perfect balance of its two parents. It retains the elegant, trailing, wispy form of T. usneoides, making it ideal for hanging displays. However, its growth is more compact and robust, thanks to the influence of T. recurvata. The plant features long, thing, silver-green leaves that form a cascading clump. It is a fairly vigorous grower that continuously produces new pups, eventually forming quite large, dense colonies.

When in bloom, it produces a small, lightly fragrant flower that forms on the end of a long stem. The petals are a charming pale green to yellow-green, sometimes with violet spots, and they emit a soft, please perfume, especially noticeable in the evening. 

Care instructions: Provide bright, indirect sunlight for optimal growth. As a general rule, a plant in a hot position will require watering every 2-3 days. In a cooler, more humid environment, watering once a week can be adequate. If dunking, submerge the plant in a  bowl of water for 10-20 minutes, then shake off the excess water. Air plants love to dry out completely between each watering and must never have water sitting at their base as this will cause the plant to rot.
