A distinctive, silvery-green air plant native to South America, Tillandsia lorentziana is known for its velvety, drought-tolerant leaves and vibrant, cherry-colored flower spike:
- Foliage: Long, narrow leaves covered in dense, coarse trichomes
- Inflorescence: Reaching up to 30cm (approximately 12") tall with 1 to 2 branches, bracts most commonly a vibrant cherry red or pink to purple, and flowers in white or violet/blue

| Medium | 6"-8" high |
Key features:
- Native range including Bolivia, Paraguay, northern Argentina, and southern and west-central Brazil where it typically grows between altitudes of 600 and 2,400 meters as rupicolous or epiphytic
- Growth Pattern: Forms a loose, upright rosette of leaves that spiral out from a short stem. As plants mature, leaves curve gracefully outward, creating an elegant, slender form
- Size: Mature plants generally reach between 22 and 60cm (approximately 9-24") in height
Care tip: Is considered a "xeric" air plant, meaning it is adapted to drier, sunny environments and will prefer frequent misting or quick dunks compared to long soaks
Ideal for: The high-impact, low-water gardener, creative enthusiast, cool-weather patio grower, "xeric" plant collector, or propagation enthusiast
