Brought to you by Rainforest Flora, Tillandsia 'Rainorest Rhodium' is a cultivar of Tillandsia exserta crossed with Tillandsia caput-medusae. This air plant was created in 2019, and registered in 2025:
- Foliage: Forms a rosette of light green, channeled, arching and curling leaves frosted with silvery trichomes. It combines the fountain-like grace of Tillandsia exserta with the curly shapes of Tillandsia caput-medusae.
- Inflorescence: Erect with 3 coral-pink, frosted, sword-shaped spikes bearing purple-petaled flowers.
| Size | Inches |
| Large (currently in spike) |
10"-12" high |
Key features:
- While it has been cultivated since a 2012 registry of Tillandsia 'Lyrical Lace', the plants look entirely different
- There is a dramatic color shift where the leaves turn blushed pink or red when about to bloom
- Growth Pattern: Semi bulbous rosette that is solitary or slow to clump
- Size: Mature specimens typically reach 40cm (15") in height. The rosette usually spans 30cm (12") in width
Care tip: Thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. Requires regular misting or soaking (up to 15 minutes once a week), ensuring it can dry completely afterwards. Turn upside down and shake excess water out.
Ideal for: The Collector, Novices, and modern interiors
