Tillandsia rectifolia

This exquisite air plant is a naturally occurring hybrid of Tillandsia ionantha and Tillandsia schiedeana, native to the tropical forests of Mexico and Central America. It is so abundant in the wild that it's recognized as an "introgressive hybrid"—a natural hybrid that has become a species in its own right.

The plant forms a beautiful, symmetrical rosette of soft, linear, silvery-gray leaves that grow predominantly upright. This elegant, "straight-leaved" structure gives it a refined and airy presence, making it a standout in any display. It is a fast grower that quickly forms attractive clumps.

When it blooms, it puts on a spectacular show. The inner leaves blush a vibrant pink or red, culminating in a short flower spike with tubular bi-colored flowers that are creamy banana-yellow and violet, or white and purple.

Care Instructions: Provide very sunny to bright, indirect light. Thoroughly spray or dunk the plant 2-3 times a week allowing it to dry completely within 6-8 hours. As a general rule, a plant in a hot position will require watering every 2-3 days. During hotter, drier months, you can soak the plant for up to 4 hours to rehydrate.
