Tillandsia reichenbachii

Tillandsia reichenbachii - this captivating species was first described by the renowned botanist John Gilbert Baker in 1889 and is named in honor of the German botanist Heinrich Gustav Reichenbach. It is native to the dry, subtropical regions of southern Bolivia and northwestern Argentina, where it grows as an epiphyte on trees and shrubs at elevations ranging from 200 to 2000 meters.

Tillandsia reichenbachii forms loose rosettes of narrow, soft, silvery-gray leaves. The leaves are thick, firm, and delicately curling, giving the plant a unique, almost succulent appearance. It is a compact grower, typically reaching about 10-20cm (4-8 inches) in height.

One of the most enchanting features of Tillandsia reichenbachii is its fragrant bloom. As one of the smaller air plant species to produce scented flowers, it produces a long-stalked inflorescence with several broad, fragrant flowers. The blooms are typically a delicate shade of violet-purple or light blue and emit a pleasant, sweet fragrance that will perfume your space.

Care Instructions: Provide bright, indirect light for optimal growth. It can tolerate some direct sun, but avoid the harsh midday rays. This plant can be watered every 2-3 days or submerged in a bowl of water for up to 20 minutes once per week. Shake off excess water and allow the air plant to dry out completely between waterings.
