Tillandsia streptophylla x Tillandsia pruinosa var Colombia

Add a truly exceptional specimen to your collection with this cross between Tillandsia streptophylla and the impressive Colombian form of Tillandsia pruinosa. The pruinosa var. Colombia parent is a unique regional form known for its larger size, long tendril-like leaves, and a bulbous base densely covered in trichomes. Combined with the dramatic curling leaves of streptophylla, this hybrid is a true showstopper.

It forms a mature, bulbous-based rosette that can reach up to 12” (30 cm) in diameter and 10” (25 cm) in height. The thick, arching, grey-green leaves are heavily scurfed, giving them a soft, frosted texture. When in bloom, it produces an erect, shell pink-bracted, slightly branched compact spike up to 20 cm high, adorned with beautiful tubular mauve flowers.

Care Instructions: Provide bright, indirect or filtered light for optimal growth. This hybrid thrives outdoors under a tree, verandah, deck, or in a shadehouse. Indoors, place it next to a window with bright light and good air flow. Water by misting or dunking the plant in a bowl of water for 10–20 minutes, then shake off excess water.
