A true showstopper, Tillandsia 'The Ultimate' combines the distinct and fragrant species of Tillandsia duratii with the fragrant, sun-loving Tillandsia crocata species:
- Foliage: Grey leaves, more open, "spider-like" formation, mainly inheriting the curling leaf characteristic of T. duratii. Leaves are also narrow and tapering.
- Inflorescence: May develop a taller flower spike. Flowers are golden orange with reddish pigmentation
- Fragrance: Strong, sweet fragrance inherited from both parents

| Large (currently in spike/bloom) | 8"-10" long |
| X-Large (currently in spike/bloom with pups) |
8"-10" long |
Key features:
- The trichomes (tiny scales) that give the plant a fuzzy appearance also help reflect intense high-altitude sunlight
- Growth Pattern: Typically grown as solitary plants and produce only a few offsets over time. Usually more robust and vigorous with good care.
- Size: Currently estimated between 8"-10" at maturity.
Care tip: Prefers to be submerged in water for 10-30 minutes once per week and must dry completely within a few hours of soaking to prevent rot. Needs excellent air circulation.
