Elevate your indoor jungle with a living masterpiece: the Mounted Vriesea 'Jacaranda'. Named for its striking visual resemblance to the breathtaking, purple-violet blooms of the tropical Jacaranda tree, this cultivar is a prized jewel among collectors. It is a masterful hybrid combining the resilient structural growth of classic Vriesea with a deep, regal color palette rarely seen in indoor plants.
Unlike common green houseplants, the Vriesea ‘Jacaranda’ features a stunning architectural rosette of smooth, broad, arching leaves that naturally form a central, water-holding "urn" or tank. As the plant matures, it sends up a magnificent, long-lasting "feather" or sword-like bloom spike in shades of rich plum, amethyst, and deep violet—a mesmerizing focal point that commands attention for months.
Handcrafted Botanicals:
Because Vriesea are natural epiphytes (air-dwelling plants that grow harmlessly on trees in tropical rainforests), their roots act primarily as structural anchors rather than nutrient gatherers. Capitalizing on this natural trait, we have securely mounted each plant onto a unique piece of natural California Grapewood.
To provide optimal humidity and foundational support, the base is nestled within a premium, moisture-retaining blend of organic moss and rich soil. It arrives beautifully finished with a minimalist black twine hanger wrapped seamlessly at the top, creating a ready-to-hang piece of living wall art.
Care Instructions:
Bright, indirect light is ideal, though it will tolerate a few hours of direct morning or late-afternoon sun. An east- or west-facing window works well. Avoid harsh, direct midday sun, which can scorch the leaves. Vrieseas need less light than Neoregelias and will thrive under higher light conditions than once supposed—but deep shade will slow growth and reduce flowering. Keep the central "cup" (tank) filled with fresh water. Flush it weekly with clean water to prevent stagnation, odor, and mosquito breeding. Use rainwater, filtered water, or tap water left out overnight to dissipate chlorine—bromeliads can be sensitive to hard tap water. Water the potting mix only when the top 1–2 inches are dry. The one rule: never let the plant sit in standing water. Excess water is harmful to the roots.
