Vriesea tesselata ‘Nova’

The Vriesea tesselata ‘Nova’, a truly out-of-this-world bromeliad that commands attention. This breathtaking cultivar is derived from the Brazilian species Vriesea gigantea (with which it shares taxonomic ties, sometimes listed as V. gigantea ‘Nova’ or V. hieroglyphica ‘Nova’). It is prized for its massive, architectural rosette and intricate leaf tessellations, making it a standout specimen for collectors and designers alike.

‘Nova’ forms a spectacular, large upright rosette that can reach up to 30 inches (76 cm) wide. Its strap-like leaves emerge in a pale green with yellowish striations that mature to near-white, creating a luminous, almost glowing effect. The mature leaves often display a stunning bluish-green hue with a subtle hint of rose. This plant is a true work of art that evolves as it grows.

Care Instructions: Provide bright, indirect light to low light for optimal growth. An east or north-facing window is ideal. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the delicate leaves. Water the plant by filling the central cup (reservoir) with non-chlorinated water (rainwater or distilled is best).
